Ages 13-18. The mission of Vita Art Center's Teen Program is to connect teenagers to contemporary visual art and artists in Ventura. Our Teen Art Program presents opportunities for young people to meaningfully interact with outstanding local artists from a variety of disciplines. During this in-depth program, students create their own artwork under the support and guidance of professional artists. Students will receive instruction in a variety of mediums.

Students discover the process of painting and composition while producing quality work. The class uses acrylic paint to create large, bold, and expressive paintings. This course focuses on developing technical skill, while exploring shape, form, and value. Students learn how to mix paint and develop an awareness of color relationships. Course covers brush stroke, paint application, and surface texture.

Students engage in drawing projects including portrait, still life and creative drawing that encourage creative expression, concept development, and advancement of basic drawing skills. Students draw 3D objects and increase their knowledge of the effects of light on form, volume and line.

This hands on art camp explores the materials and methods of painting, drawing, collage, sculpture and more. Explore your passion for art using traditional and experimental techniques and take part in a range of projects. Through out the week the group will visit art studios and artists at Bell Arts Factory and create art under the guidance of various guest artists.

Students will design and make their own soft sculpture art piece. They will start by creating a sketch of their design, make a pattern and then sew it together using a machine and by hand. No previous sewing experience is necessary.

This hands on art camp explores the materials and methods of painting, drawing, collage, sculpture and more. Explore your passion for art using traditional and experimental techniques and take part in a range of projects. Through out the week the group will visit art studios and artists at Bell Arts Factory and create art under the guidance of various guest artists. NO CLASS JULY 4

Students will learn basic building techniques of pinching, slab building, coiling, sculpting and wheel throwing to create sculptural and functional pieces of art.

Eager to learn how to design and make your own unique jewelry? Students will design and create their own jewelry. Basic wire wrapping methods are taught. Students will also make their own beads and pendants out of ceramics, glass, and paper. Throughout the week students will make necklaces, earrings, and broaches. Participants should dress in clothes they don’t mind getting messy.
