Discover the magic of color straight from the plants around us. In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn the art of dyeing yarn using substantive natural plant dyes—materials that create rich, lasting colors without the need for mordants or fixatives.
Working with locally gathered plants such as black walnut, eucalyptus, onion skins, and oak galls, students will explore the unique hues each plant produces. By the end of the workshop, each participant will have a beautiful palette of hand-dyed yarn in several natural colors.
This workshop is perfect for fiber artists, knitters, weavers, or anyone curious about natural dyeing traditions. Participants may choose to save their dyed yarn to use in the Coiled Yarn Basket workshop on November 16.
No prior experience necessary. All materials are provided.
