MARK CHURCHILL

Mark Churchill is an Ojai-based ceramic artist with more than 30 years of experience creating high-fired pottery inspired by Japanese and Korean ceramic traditions. His work embraces the beauty of “perfect imperfection,” combining traditional craftsmanship with locally sourced raw materials from Ojai, including clay and wood ash used in his glazes. Working primarily in functional forms such as tea bowls, mugs, and plates, Churchill brings a deep respect for material, process, and place to each piece. He began his training at a young age under master ceramist Frank Massarella and continues to share his knowledge through workshops and demonstrations throughout the Ventura and Ojai area.
