This 1-day, 3-hour Intro to Plein Air workshop for adults is designed for everyone from beginners to professional artists and focuses on the essentials of making drawings and paintings on location in any medium. While plein air typically takes place outdoors, this is an introductory classroom-style workshop held at Vita Art Center, where participants will learn what plein air painting is, how it differs from working in the studio, and how to begin confidently. The class includes an overview of famous European and American plein air examples, a guided look at the basic plein air kit and supplies, and a final hour of hands-on practice as students spread out around Vita to create a quick on-site sketch or painting with feedback and instruction. Participants are encouraged to bring any plein air gear they already own, along with a small sketchbook or surface and portable drawing or painting materials.
